I am a Girl

I am a Girl
Once a boy walked up to me,
‘You are lucky’ he said.
I was shocked and perplexed.
‘How?’ I questioned.
‘You are a girl, I am a boy, I really wish I was born a girl’.
‘Wow, be careful what you wish for boy’ I say almost laughing.
It was obvious that this young man before me didn’t know what he was talking about.
‘Why?’ he asked ‘being a girl’s such an easy job’.
‘why do you say so?’ I request,
‘You don’t have to worry about many things’ he blundered confidently
Then I furrow my eyebrows in confusion
‘How?’ I question once more
‘All you have to do is cook food at home’. Insulting
‘But we have a hand full of troubles we have to worry if we are big enough, we have to worry if we are handsome, if a girl likes us or not.’
He gave an over dramatic pause.
‘We also have to worry whether or not our proposal is perfect. We even have to worry if she’ll say yes’
In order to dismiss the sorry excuse of a convo I say;
‘Sure thanks, but I really think you should reconsider’
With that he left.
And as he left I realised;
Everyone has problems, some people ar just better at hiding them;
Girls.
Personally I feel a girl’s life is harder than a boy’s.
Today my fears were only confirmed.
A girl will have to worry if she is packaged well or not.
A girl will be bothered if she isn’t loved.
She’ll fret,
Thinking and wondering if she’ll ever be woman enough to face the rest.
And when she finally is,
She’ll be scared she’ll make a mess.
A girl will be scared she doesn’t know how to cook well.
A girl will fear if she’s academically down.
She’ll be scared of what others think of her
She’ll be scared of infections that may tie her womb.
All though she may have fantasies;
She will still be bothered, thinking she’s not wife material.
She’ll be scared of child birth
Even if she isn’t praying for barrenness.
She may even think she wouldn’t find the one.
She may be rejected by companies
Because she is female.
She may be scared,
The “big-men” of companies may request for her
In exchange for the job she well deserves
A girl will be scared;
Her Mr. Wright may never propose,
A girl will be disappointed,
A girl will be mocked
A girl will be ridiculed
A girl will be sized
A girl will be scared;
She isn’t perfect
A girl will be traumatized. Emotionally.
And she’s expected to balance it all.
So, hey! You young man,
You better stop wishing
And start thanking God
For making you, you 😉
